Hey, What’s up, Hello!

Hey, What’s up, Hello!

Hi there! Welcome to my Pelvic Solutions business page. I am SO excited to get to know you and help with all of your pelvic floor needs! Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy has been such an important staple in my life since I found out I was pregnant with my first-born and well before that (I just didn’t know it at the time!). I would like to use this first blog as an opportunity to introduce myself and my passion for becoming a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist!

My name is Olivia Rutledge. I graduated from Emory and Henry College in 2021 with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and began working in a long-term care facility full-time and an acute setting PRN. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Jessie, for 3 years now and we just had our son, Parker, in August! We have two incredibly sweet and energetic doodles named Harley and Milo. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, spending time at the golf course with the hubs, working out and traveling to new places!

When I was a student in PT school I ended up having a clinical rotation with a local Pelvic Floor PT for 2-weeks. I remember at the time thinking that working with women’s health was not something I was crazy interested in, one because we don’t cover a whole lot on the pelvic floor in PT school and two because it was awkward as a student to talk to patients about being incontinent and having pain with sex (the main cases that I was seeing). I remember, although I didn’t want to talk to my patients about incontinence, I wanted to know the answers on how to treat the symptoms because I would frequently find myself running to the bathroom and occasionally not being able to make it quickly enough before leaking urine. My 2-week rotation was up and I figured just getting in my daily reps of Kegels at a stop light was enough.

When I was pregnant with my son, Parker, I knew the importance of making certain my pelvic floor had enough strength and endurance to withstand pregnancy and birth. And while I knew some basic stretches and exercises, I wanted to know so much more. I became extremely invested in the prenatal and postpartum periods so much so that I decided I wanted to take a continuing education course on pelvic health and become certified in dry needling. I noticed that while at my prenatal appointments, practitioners do not have a lot of allotted time to spend with their patients on education and how to prepare the body for labor (not that they do not want to but because they see so many people in a day!). That is where the thought process for starting up Pelvic Solutions began. On top of that, I cannot tell you how many times moms would joke with me about leaking urine after having babies. Leaking while sneezing, coughing, exercising, jumping on a trampoline, etc. And I remember thinking to myself, “there’s got to be more to it than just accepting that after kids you will leak on yourself for the rest of your days.” I want to help not only the incontinent individual that suffers from a lot of the same symptoms I had before I had a baby, but also the soon-to-be or new mom on how to prepare for and return to everyday functional activities without pain and leakage, or the postmenopausal woman that is experiencing pain with sex. I want my mission to be helping women feel empowered in their own bodies!

Pelvic Solutions offers mobile PT services, meaning I come to you! I know how overwhelming it can be to get out of the house with a newborn, I got you! Heck, it can be overwhelming going to appointments several times a week even if you don’t have young kids. I start with an evaluation and then we will discuss a schedule for follow-up visits based on what works best for you. If you feel comfortable in being able to perform your exercise program at home independently, perfect, we’ll follow-up in 2-3 weeks and you’ll still have access to my email and phone number if you have any questions. If you feel like you need a little more practice with your program and additional hands on care, perfect, we can schedule you for once a week until you are ready to advance. I am here for you and your needs, we work together as a team to achieve your goals at your own pace. Lastly, my practice is cash-based. Instead of having insurance companies restrict how many visits we see each other and on what kind of goals we set, I want us to make that decision. I do provide a superbill at the end of care at patients’ request so they can submit to their insurance companies for reimbursement. Reach out to me on my contact page and let’s schedule your free 15-minute consultation phone call and get started on reaching your pelvic floor needs today!
